Anchorage, Alaska — Chenega Corporation announced that it has earned the 2015 Military Friendly® Employer designation by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs® and Military Spouse. Companies competed for the elite Military Friendly® Employer title by completing a data-driven survey, with data independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media and its Advisory Board. Criteria for the survey included a benchmark score across key programs and policies, such as the strength of company military recruiting efforts, percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention programs for veterans, and company policies on National Guard and Reserve service. Chenega Corporation is committed to hiring military talent, knowing first-hand that recruiting from the military community can lead to strategic competitive advantage. “The wide spectrum of competencies acquired by military personnel in their service to our country translates well into the necessary skill sets and capabilities required by many of the federal contracts that Chenega procures,” shared Peggy O’Keefe, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Chenega Corporation. “We are honored to be able to offer meaningful career opportunities to former military service men and women.”
Now in its 12th year, Military Friendly® Employers is the premier resource for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment. Each year, companies taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an Advisory Board consisting of leaders in the military recruitment community. A full list of board members can be found at MilitaryFriendly.com/board.
“The 2015 Military Friendly® Employers represent the preeminent tier of companies with strong military recruitment programs and meaningful job opportunities for transitioning service members and spouses,” said Sean Collins, Vice President for Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran. “Our Military Friendly® Employers constitute the group of companies moving the needle and realizing significant benefits by hiring from the military community. This year’s group of companies reported hiring over 155,000 service members and spouses over the last 12 months, representing a 35% increase over last year and an average of 15% of total new hires.”
Chenega Corporation will be showcased along with other 2015 Military Friendly® Employers in the December issue of G.I. Jobs® magazine, as well as on MilitaryFriendly.com.
